ELCA? LCMS? WELS? Etc. From where did all these Lutheran denominations come? How did we get there? This ten week course explores the origins of US Lutheran churches from the colonial period to today. Pastor James Huenink will lead the class through the formative periods in US Lutheranism, including some of the social and political movements which affected the ways in which Lutherans changed from their immigrant roots to being present-day “American Lutherans.” This course begins on Sunday, 13 September 2026, at 3:00-4:30 pm. Reformation Theology

This ten week course offers an intense and insightful introduction to the theology and history of the Reformation of the medieval church which had lost its roots in Holy Scripture and thus lost its way. Pastor Mark Menacher is well placed to convey not only what happened during the Reformation but also why it happened and, perhaps most importantly, why it is still important and relevant for the church of today. The Time Between the Testaments

The history and message of God’s people and of salvation has been communicated to all humanity as God’s Word written in the Old and New Testaments. Not as well known, between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New Testament there exists a rich history and wealth of literature pertaining to God’s people. This time, often considered “silent years,” is anything but silent. This ten week module delves into the “intertestamental” period and its wider cultural context, which in turn brings offers greater understanding of the New Testament and thus of God’s salvation for all humanity in Jesus Christ. This course begins on Sunday, 13 September 2026, at 3:00-4:30 pm. The registration fee is $25.00.

The What, the Why, and the How of Worship
Instructor: Pastor Brian Hamer

“Worship: What, How, and Why” This ten-week module in liturgy and church music introduces and guides participants through a rich understanding of Christian worship from the early church to the present, with special emphasis on the Christ-centered nature of Lutheran worship, the catholic and evangelical nature of Luther's reforms, the doctrine of the Real Presence, and singing the Gospel through sacred music. Pastor Brian Hamer, the newest member of our team, brings a strong theological and musical background this particular SLTA module. This ten (10) week course begins on Sunday, 13 September 2026, from 3:00-4:30 pm. The registration fee is $25.00.
